Audrey

Audrey, Chef Sean Brock’s flagship restaurant in Nashville, is centered around Southern Appalachia. The cuisine reflects this as well as the many Southern folk artists that adorn its walls. The concept for the branding was to create something that exuded the ‘folk spirit’ of these artists, who simply used the tools they had at their disposal to create their art. The final result were visuals that had a hand done feel to them, specifically the prints which were created through an ancient Japanese printing method called ‘Gyotaku’ in which prints of fish are made by applying ink directly to the fish, then applying the fish to paper. In this case, the same technique was applied to the various ingredients that Chef Brock would be using in the restaurant’s cuisine, creating the branding in a folk art way and giving it a true folk art sensibility that matched its surroundings in look as well as spirit.
